Healthy, Dark Sweet Cherry Frozen Yogurt

Sometimes all I want is to eat a big bowl of ice cream or frozen yogurt.

Ice cream is never in the house, and it’s very rare to find frozen yogurt on hand.

It’s so perfect on a hot summer day. Let’s face it, I’d eat it even if it was below freezing.

On the odd occasion I do indulge, I am very temporarily satisfied with all the desserty yumminess, but without fail, I always have that after sugar crash.

I know it wasn’t worth it. I read the label, and saw how much added sugar was in the container, but I ate it anyway.

This summer I was looking for a healthier option. Truths… it was hot out, and we had no frozen yogurt in the house, and I wasn’t driving into the city to get some.

So I made my own.

It taste so much better, took less than 10 minutes, and I didn’t feel awful after! Perfectly satisfied the sweet tooth and was what we needed on a hot day.

Frozen Yogurt in Food Processor

Healthy Dark Sweet Cherry Frozen Yogurt
Serves: 4-5
  • 4 cups of pitted frozen dark cherries (mine were organic and came from Costco)
  • 3 table spoons of honey (or agave… you could also try brown rice syrup or maple syrup)
  • ½ cup plain organic yogurt (or plain coconut yogurt)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh if you can)
  1. Add everything into a food processor and blend until smooth.
  2. Serve immediately or put it in the freezer until ready to serve.

Give this a try with any frozen fruit. I was inspired by a recipe from Just a Taste, where she used peaches, but the cherry variety was all our favourite!
